Dr. Chanell Marthinussen, a medical doctor and CEO of MyPocketHealth, a virtual care platform, is also the founder of The F-word women’s health platform. She graduated from Stellenbosch University with an MBChB, completing her internship at Paarl Hospital and community service at Mowbray Maternity. Her passion for women’s health drives her mission to educate females on reproductive health and menstrual hygiene. Dr. Marthinussen is dedicated to reducing teenage/unplanned pregnancies to empower women to finish school and make informed decisions about their futures. Dr Elmo Pretorius practices full-time as a physician and endocrinologist at Mediclinic Vergelegen in Somerset West. He did both his undergraduate and postgraduate training at Stellenbosch University. His practice focuses on endocrine and metabolic disease, with a specific interest in cardiometabolic medicine. He however remains an active hospitalist in general internal medicine. He is a strong advocate for healthy living as the primary treatment for metabolic disease and has a passion to enable patients to improve their health through lifestyle changes.
Dr Hilton Kaplan is a consultant physician and endocrinologist. He has worked in private practice in Claremont, Cape Town for the past 37 years. He qualified at Wits University in 1976, completed his FCP training at Baragwanath Hospital and the Johannesburg General Hospital and did his postgraduate training in Endocrinology at the University of Cape Town/Groote Schuur Hospital where he also obtained an MMED (Int Med) and Certificate in Endocrinology and Metabolism. He attended an advanced Harvard endocrine post graduate course in Boston in 2002. His major interests are in general endocrinology, diabetes and metabolism, obesity, hypertension, preventative cardiovascular disease, and therosclerosis. He is a consultant to the Cape Town Bariatric Clinic based at the Kingsbury hospital and is a senior faculty member of the Centres of Diabetes and Metabolism of South Africa. He has served as a product advisor to several Pharma companies and holds Honorariums from many of these as a lecturer and chairman for many academic meetings. Over the years Dr Kaplan took part as a primary investigator in several clinical trials. His practice is an accredited insulin pump centre, and he has done advanced training in constant glucose monitoring. He is a Life Member of the College of Medicine of South Africa.

I have spent the majority of my career working in State Practice in hospitals throughout South Africa where I have learnt the bulk of my practical skills while conducting research and doing teaching through the University of Cape Town.
